历史上今天:1945年8月6日的广岛

8月6日是日本广岛遭受原子弹轰炸64周年。广岛之所以成为美国原子弹轰炸的目标，一是因当时的军事需要，二是因其地形特殊。广岛地势平缓，易于评估原子弹爆炸效果。遭受此次灾难性打击前，广岛人口约为25万。

1945年8月6日凌晨8时整，美军B-29“超级空中堡垒”轰炸机“埃诺拉·盖伊”号从天宁岛起飞，携带一颗代号为“小男孩”的4000公斤重原子弹。8时15分，“小男孩 ”从离地面9400米的高空被投下。在57秒的下落过程中，多个复杂的引信装置一直在寻找距地面600米高的目标。被引爆以后，“小男孩”上添装的少量炸药激活了64公斤铀的超临界质量。
在这64公斤铀中，只有0.7公斤发生裂变，而其中，只有600毫克被转换为能量——爆炸产生的能量在地面形成一个巨大的火球，周围数英里陷入一片火海，巨大的冲击波将这座城市夷为平地，所有生物均遭到致命核辐射。近7万人当即丧生，到1950年，又有7万人因伤病和暴露于核辐射死亡。今天，广岛和平纪念公园矗立在地零点附近，积极宣传世界和平，希望核武器全部被销毁。
